North Bay Attractions

Located on the shores of beautiful Lake Nipissing and Trout Lake, North Bay is a vibrant city of 56,000. It is strategically located in the centre of Ontario and sits at the crossroads of Highways 11 and 17. The city has something to offer during all four seasons. Boating, fishing and hiking in the spring, summer and fall, snowmobiling and cross-country as well as downhill skiing in the winter. Often referred to as the "Gateway to the North," North Bay is the perfect area to start your northern experience. Join us for a visit!

North Bay Waterfront

Here you can stroll along the shore of Lake Nipissing or relax on the beach. Listen to free concerts put on regularly during the summer by local musicians. Prefer to get moving? Then bike or in-line skate on the new Kate Pace Way, named after North Bay's gold medal-winning downhill skier. You may even see Kate!! Take a ride on the Heritage Railway Company's Mini-Train. The 24-passenger train takes you on a 2.5km ride along the city's waterfront. The kids will also love the Heritage Carousel, with horses created right here in North Bay by local woodcarvers.

It's at the waterfront that you'll also find the Chief Commanda II, a twin-hull boat that offers a choice of cruises on picturesque Lake Nipissing, and the Chief Commanda I, which is now the NAVCO Restaurant, offering you a great sunset setting while you enjoy a sumptuous dinner.

North Bay's Waterfront is home to special events including the St. Jean Baptiste Celebrations in late June, Canada Day Celebrations on July 1, and the Heritage Festival on the Civic Holiday Weekend in early August.

And there are so many more things for you to experience and explore in North Bay, not the least of which is hiking up the trails from Duchesnay Falls to the Education Centre, home to Canadore College and Nipissing University.

Arts & Entertainment

Located in the heart of the city, the Capitol Centre is sure to be on your list of "must see" attractions in the city. The Capitol Centre offers only the very best in worldwide acts, performances and exhibits. The W.K.P. Kennedy Gallery is the perfect exhibit gallery for those who enjoy various forms of art. In addition, there are many more galleries throughout the city. The North Bay Symphony performs several times throughout the year. Nipissing Stage Company, North Bay's professional summer theatre, presents live productions throughout the summer, including a Saturday morning Children's matinee.

The Museum Scene

Over 14 museums including the North Bay & Area Museum and the Dionne Quints Museum.
